Robert North, MTP, CMT

Robert North is a Certified Massage Therapist, accomplished Neuromuscular Therapist, Holistic Lifestyle Coach, Certified Personal Trainer and Instructor for Healing Hands School of Holistic Health (HH).  In addition to operating Upward Spiral Training & Therapy in San Diego, Robert teaches the advanced, Neuro-Muscular Therapy (NMT) course exclusively for HH students at campus locations in San Diego, Escondido and Laguna Hills.

In recent decades, NMT has gained acceptance as an effective method for assessing, treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain syndromes.  In this 100-hour course, Robert draws on years of therapeutic experience and incorporates lecture, demonstration and hands on practice to teach students how to identify trigger points, nerve entrapments and postural distortions in the human body.  He then walks them through a series of proven treatment protocols to address structural issues and facilitate balance and healing for their clients.

Robert’s interest in holistic health and fitness grew after experiencing a serious car accident in which his right leg was severely broken. Responsible for most of his own rehabilitation, Robert realized that full healing would require an ongoing effort and commitment on his part.  With constant focus on growth and development, he pursued various certifications and educational programs that promised clinical results for himself and his clients. These included; Certification through The National Academy of Sports Medicine in 1991, CHEK Golf Bio-mechanic Certification in 2001, plus certification as a CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach, St. John’s Neuromuscular Therapy with additional certifications through AFAA, APEX Nutrition, Reebok, and others. After working in the Health and Fitness field for over a decade, Robert discovered that lasting results were achieved only when one took full responsibility for their own health. Taking full responsibility, he says, means knowing your body better than your Doctor knows it, and changing habits that do not lead to true health and happiness. Robert says: “Contrary to what you’ll read in my clients’ testimonials, I don’t ‘Fix’ people or get them in ‘Shape’ – what I really do is empower my clients with knowledge and a customized set of ‘Tools’ that they can use to “Fix” themselves!
