But first, what is FAFSA, who qualifies, and how do you apply?
What is FSA and FAFSA?
FSA stands for Federal Student Aid and is the program a student applies for. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Financial Aid is a term that describes a funding package that assists students with costs of tuition, housing, and other fees. The components making up this aid package include federal grants and loans. Grants are forms of awards that do not need to be paid back. Loans at low interest rates are part of the aid package, which have to be paid back once the student is no longer attending college.
Typically, these awards are determined based on economic needs of students (need-based financial aid) and are calculated from the FAFSA data collected on the students themselves and their parents.
To qualify for Federal Student Aid (FSA), students must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen with a valid social security number. Students must also be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student*. Generally, a financial need must be demonstrated. In order to receive financial aid at Healing Hands a student must:
- Enroll in the 1000-hour Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) program. The 500-hour Massage Therapy (MT) program is not eligible for FSA funding. If you are interested in the MTh program, please contact us about our Healing Hands School payment plan or follow the link.
- Be able to take 20 hours of course work per week. You will be expected to finish the 1000-hour HHP program in one year. You will need to register for approximately 250 hours of course work per quarter.
- Students must satisfactorily complete 90% of the course hours to maintain FSA eligibility.
- Have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
