Steps for International Student Enrollment at Healing Hands

  1. Determine your academic goal (Massage Therapy Program or Holistic Health Practitioners Program). Healing Hands is a SEVP approved school with the ability to provide Form I-20 for the issue of M-1 visas.
  2. Submit proof of TOFEL English Proficiency requirement.
  3. Apply for admission by submitting international application and $250 On-time Deposit.  Please note:  this is not the SEVIS required fee.
  4. Determine you course start dates. When the school accepts you, you will receive a Form I-20 from the school. This U.S. immigration document allows you to apply for a student visa.
  5. Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee. You can pay this fee by credit card or check by going to the following U.S. government website. Make sure that you receive your receipt-you will need it for your visa interview. The fee ranges from a high of $200 USD for students to $0 for some exchange visitors.
  6. Locate the website of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your country and follow the directions to make a visa appointment. Student visa appointments are a priority for the United States, and embassies and consulates can schedule many appointments within a few days. APPLY EARLY TO PREVENT DELAYS.
  7. Complete the visa application online and pay the visa processing fee prior to arriving to your appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Bring proof of payment with you. Your visa will be valid for one school, even if you received admissions from several SEVP certified schools.
  8. Travel to a U.S. port of entry no more than 30 days before the program start date on your Form I-20, and apply for entry into the United States. You will need several documents:
    • Proof of citizenship (a passport valid for at least the next six months is best)
    • Form I-20 from the school that you plan to attend
    • Proof that you paid the SEVIS I-901 fee
    • Proof you have the financial ability to pay for your school costs plus living expenses (the amount shown on the Form I-20)
    • An admissions letter from the school or other proof you are a student (just in case)
  9. Present all these documents to the CBP officer who will decide whether you may enter the United States.
  10. If the CBP officer admits you into the United States, that officer then will issue you a Form I-94, which you will complete en route to the United States. Keep this document in a safe place with your Form I-20. The Form I-94 is the only document that you will receive that establishes how long you may legally remain in the United States for your studies. You can download this information here.

English Proficiency for International Students

Students who wish to apply to Healing Hands School of Holistic Health must meet our English proficiency requirement by achieving a test score of 64 or higher on the TOEFL iBT Test.
 Apply online at TOEFL: http://www.ets.org/toefl

What Is the TOEFL iBT Test?

There are two formats for the TOEFL test. Unless otherwise approved Healing Hands applicants *must apply for the iBT Test. The TOEFL iBT® test, administered via the Internet, measures a candidate’s ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

Most test takers take the TOEFL iBT Test. Test centers that do not have Internet access offer the Paper-based Test (PBT).  * TOEFL: 470 PBT; 47 IBT (500 PBT; 61 IBT for summer applicants)

The TOEFL® PBT test, administered in a paper-based format, will be phased out starting in mid-2012. In some regions, the last TOEFL PBT test administration will be in May 2012. You can take the TOEFL PBT test until that time and submit your scores to institutions and agencies for two years after your test date.

Students should request that the TOEFL office send the score report directly to Healing Hands School of Holistic Health, destination code 3175.
