Becoming a student at Healing Hands is more than receiving a certification in massage therapy or holistic health. One of the unique aspects of our school is the community support behind every student. Even though your journey with us begins when you enroll, it does not end when you graduate.

Working in massage therapy means you heal others. At our school, we believe the best way to heal is through compassion and support. In order for our students to successfully heal their clients, they must experience healing themselves first. We take a holistic approach to our teachings so that our students can have a comprehensive learning experience that not only benefits their careers but their souls as well.

In Nature

Every year a two-day holistic living retreat is held for all students and alumni to attend. This event reminds the student that living a balanced and health-conscious life can foster a powerful state of well-being.

This retreat gives students the opportunity to unwind, rejuvenate and reconnect with nature and a community of like-minded Healers. This popular, Springtime retreat takes place in a beautiful natural setting located in the heart of an undeveloped canyon complete with fresh- water creek. With no modern conveniences to distract them, students are immersed in outdoor, holistic living.

Online

Beyond the courses and exams, Healing Hands is online. Our active community on platforms such as Facebook gives our alumni and friends the chance to network from anywhere in the world. For those who have graduated from our school and have gone on to their dream careers, this is a great place for them to keep up with us.

Beyond Schooling

Because of the tight-knit group of healers we have established, opportunities for jobs are abundant. The support from our alumni is a continuous journey as people are constantly offering job opportunities for anyone interested.

The relationships we have cultivated with our partners has given our students the opportunity for successful job placements. After years of building great relationships with these businesses, we have been able to give our students the chance to work in different environments and help them evaluate what practices are best for them. Spas and healing facilities all around Southern California are filled with past Healing Hands students.

 

We encourage our students to dig deep into their own healing to understand how to heal others through the support of everyone around them. By modeling a more holistic approach to life, students help their clients re-discover their own innate power and ability for self-healing.

What Meditation Can Do For Your Overall Health

While there are countless ways to promote your health and wellness, people often overlook the importance of meditation. If there is one thing you should be doing daily to remain healthy and happy, it is meditation. The power of your mindset depicts your outlook on life. So why aren’t we trying harder to train our ways of thinking through meditation?

One of our main priorities at Healing Hands is teaching our students how to maintain a balanced and healthy life. An essential piece of this balance is a healthy mind. We teach meditation practices to our students so they can create mindfulness for themselves. Because this type of practice can influence one’s life so heavily in a positive way, they are shown the importance of meditation in their courses and are encouraged to practice outside of the classroom.

Reduce Your Anxiety 

Anxiety is no simple struggle, and everyone experiences it in some manner. It leaves our minds and bodies feeling chaotic, confused, and exhausted. One of the best ways to eliminate this feeling is through meditation. Mindful practices will give you the ability to control your thoughts, even in ways as simple as breathing. By activating and training the area in your brain that regulates your thinking and emotions, the feelings of worry begin to diminish. Let yourself truly live in the moment by meditating to feel your anxiety fade away.

You may believe the only way to get those “feel-good” chemicals in your body flowing is through exercise, but that’s not the case. Meditation practices increase the levels of serotonin and endorphins in your brain, leaving you feeling happier than you began. Ways To Relieve Your Daily Stress

Every day we are faced with challenges that bring on stress. Too much stress can take a toll on your physical and mental wellbeing. When these pressures become repetitive, we begin to experience some real problems.

 

Our students are trained to understand their client’s stress through assessments and clear communication. Dealing with an extensive amount of tension and worry can cause insomnia, muscle tension, a weakened immune system and more. Mentally, stress increases feelings of depression and anger along with a lack of motivation.

 

While there are so many reasons to be stressing out, we need to learn how to overcome those mental blocks in order to sustain a well-rounded and healthy lifestyle. We can achieve this by making small mindful changes throughout our day.  

 

Begin the day with yourself.

Mornings can be a hassle when you already have a long to-do list in your head the minute you wake up. Before you begin your hectic day, set the tone by taking 5-10 minutes to yourself. Try to think about circumstances in which you are thankful. Practicing gratitude can put your worries into perspective, helping you realize how small they actually are. Incorporating positive thinking will establish your mood and start you off feeling good.

 

De-clutter your space.

Waking up to a messy room affects your mindset more than you may think. Whether you begin in your house or at the office; cleaning the clutter in your physical spaces will help clear the clutter in your mind. Having an organized space to work or relax in gives your brain a break from focusing on too many things at once.

 

Drink water.

Hydration is one of the most important factors in having a healthy lifestyle. Not drinking enough water causes us not to think clearly and makes us feel drained. The amount of daily water intake depends on each person. But generally speaking, women should be drinking around 12 cups a day, while men need about 16 cups. Water will help give you the clarity and energy you need to thrive during your day.

 

Focus on one task at a time.

Many times when we find ourselves stressed out it is because we have too many tasks on our plate and not enough time in the day to complete them. Bring your attention to one need and let everything else go. Once that task is done, you can switch your attention to the next. Worrying about multiple duties at once serves no purpose other than stress. There will always be more to do, don’t let that cloud your mindset.

 

 

By creating small, healthy habits you can include in your life; you will see a noticeable difference in your mentality.
